The need in West Dayton

Here, chronic stress, trauma, and poor maternal and infant outcomes compound. Residents say the same.

  • 26.9% of Dayton residents live in poverty, compared with 10.6% nationally
  • 67% of West Dayton respondents were very concerned about their emotional well-being
  • 63% worried about community conditions and the health of moms and babies
  • ~2× the infant mortality rate, documented in community assessments

Pregnant and postpartum women, families, and neighbors need accessible, culturally responsive, trauma-informed support close to home.

How our programs connect

Community Well-Being Initiative

Free and affordable movement, mindfulness, restorative circles, and self-care labs, brought into schools, workplaces, healthcare settings, correctional facilities, and neighborhoods.

Maternal Wellness Initiative

Caring Adult support, maternal yoga, healing circles, and doula care for pregnant and postpartum mothers, delivered with our wellness practitioner network.

Three years of self-care labs and restorative circles taught us that when basic needs go unmet or help with children and home is missing, well-being is out of reach. So we built the Maternal Wellness Initiative to meet both.

Jasmine’s story

Support she received became support she gives

Expectant and isolated, Jasmine was struggling to care for herself and her young daughters. Through our Caring Adult model, trained community members walked alongside her with household help, encouragement, and consistent presence. She kept coming to healing circles and maternal yoga, and today she is a Caring Adult herself, supporting other mothers.

In their words

“It’s the only thing I look forward to every week and the only place that makes me feel like I am free.”
